Choices

If a person can be defined by the choices he makes, then how would we as a nation be defined...
Corrupt is the word that comes to mind...and corruption not only by way of giving and recieving bribes.
We are a corrupt nation in all senses of the word. From the highest echelons of power in the country to us to our sweepers, plumbers and even beggars we are all corrupt in the most unimaginable ways.
We would rather watch Sachin bat than come out to vote.
Look at our television, be it the pathetic news channels (barring a couple) or our entertainment channels where a slain politician's son involved in a drug controversy and a few women on a reality show is made the judge for a kids talent hunt show. Now, Is that man supposed to be a role model?
Our security agencies, where officers die because they are provided with substandard equipment when they are fighting to save us. because someone was too busy counting his CUT when the product was being procured. And we shall vote for these rascals because all of us will be bribed in some way or the other. by reducing petrol prices two months before elections, by reducing train fares, and some of us are even bombarded with cash, television sets and what not!!
because by the end of his five year tenure that rascal is going to be able to afford a jet with a very big television set.
A politician gets members of a minority community slaughtered and wins the oncoming election with a humungous margin.
These are the choices we make---Its time we start making the right choices, in everything we do.

To The ordinary Pakistani

A few questions to the ordinary Pakistani:
1. Does he really believe his country's media when they say that the attack in Mumbai was staged by one of our own parties....in order to malign Pakistan?
2. What does he think when his Prime Minister and Foreign Minister go on record to say that Dawood is not in Pakistan (while an iconic former Paki cricketer's daughter is married into crime's first family)? What is it but a shamelessly blatant lie by your leaders? Would they say that lie because you-the ordinary Pakis- want to save Dawood?
3. Or do Pakistanis really believe that Dawood is an honest hardworking businessman who is being harassed by India because they have nothing better to do?
4. And yeah, what does it feel like to have their country labeled by world leaders 'an international migraine or a terror hub?

expecting some interesting answers...i would really like a paki to answer these questions...meanwhile another former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif has been really upset over the fact that England has come to India for the test series...while no team has been going to Pakistan to play as it is terror struck...he alleges its the IPL moolah which got KP's boys to return...and that its unfair to Pakistan that no team is touring their country....whatever be England's reasons for coming back, we all should thank The English team for showing faith in the Indian security agencies...by not coming back they would have let the terrorists win...now India will.

Mumbai-back on its feet

The City breathes again....as the anger subsides so does the fear...parties and late night dinners will become the norm again, till we are stopped dead in our tracks once again...(could be 14 year olds now...apparently its not too difficult to become a terrorist, cross the border and you get state sponsored training)
As our leaders learn to cope with public fury, they shall also learn to ignore it, or worse, make it work for them, by blaming the other...the All Powerful Other...
the other party, the other minister from the same party or if all else fails, the other country...who has been getting away with murder simply because we have failed to act., we only react...by saying crap like " it is an attack on India, it is deplorable" well now, thanks for the insight PM...could you please quit consoling your own people in the way the bereaved are consoled by their neighbours.
BJP should have reserved the SHINING India slogan for now...as it is now that India is truly shining....as it burns...
hopefully the anger wont die, hopefully our leaders will now act and not just react, hopefully Pakistan will see some sense, hopefully...
